Declan
Declan was diagnosed in May of 2020 at the age of 2 with a rare soft tissue tumor named Rhabdomyosarcoma. He completed 67 weeks of chemotherapy and 6 weeks of proton therapy. Declan is now 5 years old, 1 1/2 years in remission, loving preschool, making new friends and running on the soccer field! He is looking forward to spending the summer at the pool and attending Kindergarten in the fall!
Emily
Emily has been fighting since she was 6 years old. She still scans yearly and continues to suffer from life long effects due to her brain surgery, but it hasn’t stopped her from pushing herself to her best potential. She has hopes of returning to Cincinnati Children’s one day and working in the PT field. Because of funding efforts by Cancer Free Kids, Emily is able to be here today and share her story. She currently plays soccer- high school and club, she plays volleyball. She maintains a 3.5 gpa. She has plans to pursue either Forensics or sports medicine in college. She’s very active in her school and community.
Joel
Joel is 14 years old and is 13 years cancer free from stage 4 neuroblastoma. He's in 8th grade through homeschooling. He has been playing guitar now for three years and just recently started taking taekwondo. He's already advanced to yellow belt and continues to practice for his next belt test.
